To the Editor of Omaha World-Herald:

Re: "Effort seeks to Keep pot illegal" (9-30-11).

It looks like lots of people want to keep marijuana completely
unregulated, untaxed and
controlled by criminal gangs. Just like alcohol was when it was illegal.

My suspicion is that lots of people are on the payroll of the Mexican
drug cartels.
I can't prove it--just suspicious.

To the Editor of The Fresno Bee:

Re: "Valley War On Drugs Losing A Key Ally" (10-1-11).

Gee, does this mean that cops are going to have to go after
real criminals instead of felony gardeners? Criminals who harm
others against their will.

In 1961 ninety-two percent of all murders will solved nation-wide.
in 2005 only sixty-one percent of all murders were solved nation-
wide.

Why? In 1961 the term DNA evidence didn't exist. Neither did the
ability of police to enter into a computer data base fingerprints.

The solving of other major crimes in down also from 1961.

If a family member were murdered, would you rather have the
police go after gardeners or murders?

For the source for the above statistics see: 2007 book, "Promoting
Effective Homicide Investigations" which states
on page 12, "An arrest was made or homicides were otherwise cleared in
92 percent of the cases in 1961 and only 61 percent of homicides in
2005."

To the Editor of the L. A. Times:

Thanks for publishing Jeff Berke's outstanding letter: "Time for a
change" (10-9-11). I'd like to add that prior to the passage of the
Marijuana Tax Act of 1937, Harry Anslinger, the Director of the Bureau
of Narcotics testified before
Congress that America had a total of 100,000 marijuana users.

Now the government estimates that more than 100 million Americans have
used marijuana. This is greater than a
1,000 fold increase.

Why the huge increase? The lure of the "forbidden fruit."
