To the Editor of the Mail Tribune:
I'm writing about Chris Conrad's outstanding column: "Dazed and
confused" (Oct 10th).
I'm not dazed or confused but I am mad. Mad the candidate Obama said he
would not go after
medical marijuana users or their caregivers. I'm mad that candidate
Obama said that the war on
drugs was an utter failure, yet he continues to wage it.
One final question: Why do the drug war cheerleaders want marijuana to
remain completely
unregulated, untaxed and controlled by criminals? Are they on the
payroll of the Mexican
drug cartels. If they are not, they might as well be.

Re: "GETTING OUT OF THE RED Legalize it" (10-14-11).
Prior to the passage of the Marijuana Tax Act of 1937, the Commissioner
of Narcotics Harry Anslinger testified before Congress that the United
States had a total
of 100,000 marijuana users. Today the government says that at least
107 million Americans have used it. This is greater than a 1,000 fold
increase.
Marijuana prohibition has been very successful. Successful in creating
a huge demand for marijuana.
