To the Editor of The Washington Examiner:

I'm writing about Joyce Nalepka's not-so-thoughtful letter: "MARIJUANA
IS NOT HARMLESS AND SHOULD NOT BE LEGALIZED" (12-20-12).

The central issue about marijuana legalization and regulation is
freedom. The freedom of adults to choose what goes into their own
bodies in the privacy of their own homes.

Most people use marijuana for the same reasons they use alcohol.
Shouldn't adults have the freedom to choose the much safer substance
without the threat of going to jail
for doing so?

Perhaps marijuana is not harmless but neither are a long list of
potentially unhealthy foods. Do we want the government choosing for us
what foods we may or may not consume?
Hopefully not.

To the Editor of The Las Vegas Sun:

Thanks for publishing Frank Musaraca's thoughtful letter: "LEGALIZATION
IS A WIN FOR SOCIETY" (12-22-12).

So far, in the 5,000-year history of its use, there are no documented
deaths from its use, but perhaps there will be a first time.

I know of no one who advocates the legalization, regulation and
government control of marijuana who claims there are no risks involving
marijuana use. We just don't want one of the risks to be getting
arrested and thrown in jail with violent criminals.

Regarding the so-called gateway theory, 100 percent of heroin and
cocaine addicts started out with either mother's milk or baby formula,
but that is certainly not the cause of heroin or cocaine addiction any
more than marijuana is the cause.

It seems to me that one of the most basic freedoms is the freedom for
adults to choose for themselves what goes into their own bodies without
the threat of getting arresting and thrown in jail.

I strongly suggest that the readers go toYoutube.com and search for
"Judge Jim Gray" and find out the six groups who benefit from marijuana
prohibition. Unless you have a vested
financial interest in the status quo, I believe this video will change
you mind about marijuana prohibition.

To the Editor of The Times-Tribune:

So Gov. Tom Corbett doesn't want any legal marijuana sold anywhere in
Pennsylvania. That's the same position of the Mexican drug cartels. Is
there a connection? Of course not.
