Re: Letter 31 Oct, "Amendment 2 Would Open Door To Recreational Pot"

Sheriff Ivey should not be worried about increased street crime. A
recent peer-reviewed paper from criminologists at the University of
Texas, Dallas, found that the first 12 states to have medical marijuana
laws -- as compared to the other 38 -- have significant reductions in
both violent crime and property crime.

Loopholes? They can't amount to much or Attorney General Pam Bondi would
have mentioned them in her attempt to persuade the Supreme Court to keep
Amendment 2 off the ballot.

His 'backdoor' to legalization will not occur in our lifetimes if
medical pot backfires, as he says it will. So passing Amendment 2 is a
win-win. Either it works as proponents claim, or it backfires and they
won't try again. Vote YesOn2.

To the Editor of The Saratogian:

The cannabis legalization issue is not whether cannabis is completely
safe for everybody, including children and adolescents , it is not.
The issue is freedom of choice for adults. Children have died from
eating peanuts and peanut butter but we don't cage peanut growers,
sellers or consumers.

And the voters of Colorado and Washington state have decided that we
should not cage cannabis growers, sellers or consumers.

I submit that all adults should have the same freedom of choice that
they have in Colorado and Washington.

To the Editor of The Boston Herald:

This issue is freedom. The freedom of choice for adults. The freedom of
adults to seek
their own happiness the way they want without the threat of being
arrested and thrown
in jail with violent criminals.

Those who oppose the use of marijuana are free to not grow it, buy it or
use it.
