WELFARE DRUG-TESTING PLAN FULL OF HATE, FEAR-MONGERING

Now the Harris government plans to undertake mandatory drug testing
for welfare recipients. I hope every single person on welfare refuses
to take the test. In fact, I hope they fight back against this clear
violation of their basic human rights but who will back them? The
Harris government has, over the years provoked the public into
sharing its negative view of those in need.

This presumptuous, fear-mongering, hate-filled plan is meant only to
scare a few numbers off the rolls and convince the public that
welfare recipients do not deserve the taxpayers' money. Apparently,
the government doesn't even have any data to justify this proposal.

This is not about trying to rehabilitate drug addicts; it is more of
a systematic attempt to undermine and humiliate those in need. I am
ashamed to live in this province.
