There are several things in the cigarette fiasco that should be like a
red flag waved ahead of a bull to every American citizen ["Punishment
may not fit the crime." Local News, Jan. 4].

Who made the cigarette law in the first place? It frightens me when I
hear any policeman say, "I know this isn't right but I'm just doing my
job." Hitler's henchmen began with what appeared to be just as innocent!

Second, the one to be arrested should be the squealer. Brother turning
on brother is exactly the way genocide in Sarajevo started.

America is racing toward complete destruction. The seeds of distrust
are already planted. We plant to the wind and we reap the whirlwind.
