MORE THAN THE ADDRESS WAS WRONG WITH BSO RAID

I read with disgust the story of the mistaken raid on the Chapman home by
the Broward Sheriff's Office. This is just one more example of why the
insane ``war on drugs'' should be ended.

So far this ``war'' has resulted in: the proliferation of street gangs, the
killing of innocent bystanders by police, the glamorization of drugs for
teens, billions of tax dollars wasted, troubled relations with Latin
America, heightened racial tension from profiling tactics, early release of
violent offenders due to prison overcrowding and disrespect for the police.

Meanwhile, drug use itself has not been affected!

Yes, let's use the media and health education to discourage drug use, but
let's call an immediate end to this immoral ``war.''

If Lily Chapman had not been, in the opinion of Sheriff Ken Jenne, such a
likable person, would her daughter and the other woman present have deserved
to be hand-cuffed and told to ``shut the f--- up'' by the storm troopers?

I don't suppose her grandson Kyune Dukes will ever forget his third
birthday.

Even with the current civil property-forfeiture policies in place and BSO
taking over contracts for everything from city law enforcement to county
code enforcement, I don't think there's enough money in the budget to cover
the costs to Kyune.
