CANNABIS AND SUCCESS

THANKS TO THE Court of Appeal, we now know that the billionaire caught
entering New Zealand with cannabis is Peter Lewis, a "functioning pothead"
who functions at a very high level indeed. He is CEO of a huge corporation
which he built himself, and is renowned for his philanthropy. He enjoys
perfect health at the age of 66. In short, he is a walking refutation of the
stereotype of the dozy, unproductive cannabis user. And he is only one of
many. Major software companies are now relocating in Holland because the
sharpest young software engineers prefer to live in a country where they
need not fear the persecution for having the good taste to prefer cannabis
to toxic, violence-provoking alcohol.

You recently reported that Judge David Saunders ordered a cannabis user to
copy out a scare-book on the evils of the drug. Justice demands that Judge
Saunders - recently pictured in the ODT holding a glass of wine at an
"anti-drugs" benefit - copy the ODT's capsule biography of Peter Lewis 100
times, and send the copies to his colleagues in courts around the country.
