MORE POT CHARGES FROM CHECKSTOPS

The local RCMP detachment, with the assistance of Lethbridge Highway 
Patrol, laid seven more charges for possession of marijuana last week 
during checkstops at various points along Highway 3 in the Crowsnest Pass.

The charges come on the heels of the seizure of four and three quarter 
pounds of pot from a vehicle on Highway 3 on Jan. 4.

The seven charges were all laid in separate incidents from Jan. 7 to Jan. 16.

The largest amount RCMP seized in the checkstops was $8,000 worth of 
marijuana from a 31-year-old man from Trail, B.C. on Jan. 8. Other charges 
were laid against a 22-year-old man from Calgary on Jan. 7, a 27-year old 
Calgary man and a 20-year-old Sparwood man on Jan. 9, a 20-year-old Calgary 
man on Jan. 15 and a 31-year-old Banff man on Jan. 16.

Since the start of December RCMP have seized more than 12 pounds of 
marijuana from checkstops on Highway 3 through the Crowsnest Pass.
