PUBLICLY SUPPORT HEMP

Paul Jenkins asks why more people aren't opposing Proposition 5 to legalize
hemp/marijuana ("Dope vote: No time for political cowards," Sept. 15).
Perhaps people are finally seeing the truth. The truth is that marijuana
does have medical value. Hemp products are harmless. And recreational
marijuana use is far less harmful than alcohol or tobacco.

From the tone of his article, Jenkins makes it sound like the proposition
would legalize marijuana for children and be completely unregulated. In
actuality, the proposition is asking for regulation of marijuana similar to
alcohol, and its use would only be legal for adults 18 years and older.
Although Paul Jenkins does not consider an 18-year-old an adult,
18-year-olds are tried as adults, have the right to vote and can die for
our country. That's the logic and the truth behind 99Hemp.

Paul Jenkins calls the politicians cowards for not publicly opposing the
initiative. I say they are cowards for not publicly supporting it.
