GOT FAIR HEARING

Re Lamaze ruling wrong message, Sept. 19. As a Canadian, I am happy that
Eric Lamaze has been given a fair shake. Clearly any person who has had
addiction trouble in the past is always in danger of a relapse.

If the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CES) had done its job properly
in the first place, none of this would have happened. How would your
average person deal with being banned from their career because they had
(to draw a parallel example) parked illegally? Lamaze has worked hard to
overcome his addiction and I was proud to have a person who had overcome
their own failings to achieve such heights represent Canada. I'll still be
proud that we gave him a fair hearing.
