DRUG-RAID DEATH A BIG BLUNDER FOR FULTON COPS

Regarding the article on the woman killed during a drug raid: I was amazed
at the creativity of the Fulton County Police Department in solving this
home-invasion case ("Fulton woman slain during drug raid," Metro, Sept. 23).

Instead of tracking down the break-in culprits, the police instead discover
an insidious case of wanton drug abuse ("a small amount of cocaine on a
nightstand") and came up with an ingenious plan that left a woman dead.

The lesson for the next couple who might be subjected to another break-in
by the still-at-large burglars would seem to be this: Don't call the police
until you have a group of Harvard lawyers check out your house and
background for anything that may allow the Fulton County police to find
another innovative way to solve the case at your expense.
