JAILING THE SICK FOR MARIJUANA POSSESSION A SIN

Editor's Note: This Letter Was Originally Sent To Congressman Scott Mcinnis.

Dear Congressman McInnis:

I just read again that you oppose the medical marijuana Amendment 20 coming
up on the November 7th election. You are quoted as saying the war for
profit against the American people (your drug war) needs to be
"intensified." Help set me straight! Do you oppose medical marijuana? At
this point I believe you support the accepted Republican platform and think
it is proper to cage a sick person that uses medical marijuana with
disregard for human compassion for their will. If the Amendment 20 is
passed are you going to ignore the people's will? Fight against the
citizens will?

I not only vow not to vote for you, but vow to work very hard in letting my
neighbors know your policy on this issue. You have failed the litmus test.

It is a sin to put your neighbor in a cage for using cannabis. Those who
vote to cage their neighbor for using cannabis are the problem in society,
not cannabis. Help end the war not escalate it.

Perhaps we should be thinking that for many many reasons it is time for
Colorado to burn the old dead branch from the tree to make room for the new
branch. Our state leaders are by and large Republicans who favor jailing
people for using cannabis medically, agriculturally, ecologically, etc. and
spend our tax money to mandate it. Heck they're into funding private
prisons now aren't they? I am reminded of the kid who stole my lunch money
on the playground.

The Governor Bill Owens, Senator Allard & Campbell stance claims that I
want to simply legalize marijuana for recreation, which is to say my
knowledge is less important than his and my feelings are corrupt and unfounded.

After my son died of Leukemia I was able to find out more about the
specifics of medical marijuana for cancer and chemotherapy treatment and
now I know that it not only helps people eat but can eliminate the severe
nausea associated with the chemo that keeps them from eating to begin with.
Instead my 17-year-old perhaps suffered that great additional discomfort
for the name of a war for profit against the American people. Medical
Science and compassion can bring true light to the issue yet Norton and his
ilk want nothing of the TRUTH in regards to medical marijuana. I was not
able to locate any information during my son's treatment about the use of
marijuana and since have gotten a computer that has helped in getting this
info. I suggest that if your family has to decide between health or obeying
the law you already know what I am talking about. Statistics point out that
every average American family will have to face cancer.

Today most Americans know that reefer is no big deal. To put someone in
jail for using it medically is a SIN! Three Ontario Appeals Court Justices
unanimously ruled unconstitutional the laws making marijuana illegal, at
the beginning of August 2000, and stating among other things that the law
represents an embarrassing history based on misinformation and racism.

Thank you again for your time although I am hoping come November you no
longer can harm my family.
