Dear Editor:

Re: Messenger Shot, Sept. 22.

What a silly editorial. What exactly do you want the federal
government to do about organized crime, turn Canada into a police
state? People die every day and you get your knickers in a knot
because a journalist is shot?

In any event, organized crime is the child of government. Only
government can nurture organized crime by banning popular goods and
services such as prostitution and drugs, actions that run directly
contrary to our Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

Just as the canary in the mine warned of dangerous fumes, it is the
presence of organized crime that warns us that freedom is on the wane.
