MARIJUANA PIPE DETECTED BY X-RAY

Public Safety

Spokane _ A 39-year-old Spokane man was cited for possession of drug
paraphernalia the morning of Oct. 13 after he sent his metal marijuana pipe
through the X-ray screening machine at the Spokane County Public Safety
Building.

Although not illegal to possess, marijuana pipes are among the items not
allowed into secure facilities.

The pipe was inside a canvas sport bag carried by Wayne Allen Orman, 6404
N. Perry, said Sheriff's spokesman Dave Reagan. Orman was issued a criminal
citation and released on his signature.

Packages and purses are routinely checked by X-ray at security stations in
the Public Safety Building, the Spokane County Courthouse and Juvenile
Court and Detention.

Other items not allowed into secure buildings include firearms and
ammunition, knives longer than three inches, any type of chemical defense
sprays or flammable liquids, box cutters, razor knives and skateboards.
