"The officials and management of the Sheriff's Department have asked us to reconsider hosting these parties in the future,'' said Ted Ballweg, center manager of sales and marketing. The center has a contract for a New Year's Eve party that it will honor, Ballweg said. But at least 20 proposals by promoters have been rejected in recent weeks, he added. "We have agreed not to sign any new contracts until we have a chance to discuss in detail what our booking policy will be,'' he said. Ballweg said he had received as many as 100 e-mails from rave supporters, saying that if public venues are not available, raves will again go underground and be more dangerous. - --- MAP posted-by: Don Beck
