Numerous Charges In Sting On Marijuana Growing Operations

A series of drug busts across Calgary have wiped out seven
marijuana-growing operations, and left 11 people arrested or facing
charges.

Tac-Team officers led raids by officers from the drug unit and various
districts on homes in the northeast, southeast and southwest.

"We seized more than 200 marijuana plants with an estimated value of
more than $180,000," said Staff Sgt. Dick Nyenhuis.

"Numerous drug-related charges were laid against seven Calgarians and
charges are pending against four others."

Police raided homes in the 200 block of Carmel Cl. N.E.; the 100 block
of Abadan Pl. N.E.; the 300 block of Abadan Pl.  N.E.; the 3100 block
of 40 St. S.W.; the 8000 block of Huntwick Hill N.E.; the 300 block of
4 Ave. N.E.; and the 3200 block of 30A Ave. S.E.

Seven suspects are charged with possessing marijuana for the purposes
of trafficking, and with production of marijuana.

They are Kimberley Anne Bondi, 35; Jacqueline Wanda Lachapelle, 29;
Samuel Garry Bondi, 56; Kevin William Allen, 23; Giuseppe Gianni
Nicoletti, 30; David James Rae,45; and Barbara Rae, 35. Samuel Bondi
is also charged with the unsafe storage of a firearm.

Cocaine was found in one of the homes and a raft of drug-related
charges are also pending against four other suspects, said Nyenhuis.
