COCAINE DEMAND LESSON

Regarding the Feb. 17 editorial, "Cocaine; Production in Colombia is
twice as large as thought": Let's see if you can learn an economics
lesson. Say this 10 times: "Demand drives production." Are you
learning your lesson? Say it another 10 times and then get down from
your pulpit and get busy cutting the demand [for cocaine] in this
country. Colombia's problems will be solved immediately. Cutting
production drives prices up if demands remains constant. Who wins then?
