Contact: http://www.azstarnet.com/ Author: Davis Wilson TIME TO LEGALIZE CANNABIS The March 3 letter, "Don't legalize drugs," impels me to respond. I've heard enough from this anti-drug lobby that campaigns its rhetoric nonsense to our misinformed society. I advocate the legalization of cannabis products, but not synthetic killers such as cocaine and heroin. I advocate responsible use for adults only, in the correct setting, while respecting the rights of others and resisting abuse. If we could follow simple sanctions, legalization of cannabis would reduce unnecessary border violence. It would also allow the government in on the big bucks, as it could tax drugs instead of spending big bucks to fight them. Tobacco farmers could be assured of job security by growing hemp and marketing its multiple uses. Alcohol use takes many more lives every year than cannabis use. I don’t see too many cannabis users wrapping theirs cars around telephone poles. Let’s take advantage of the multiple uses of cannabis and hemp. The voters of Arizona passed the proposition in favor of medicinal cannabis applications. Let’s educate and be heard. Davis Wilson - --- MAP posted-by: Derek Rea
