IT'S THE USERS, NOT THE DRUGS

On March 29, The Daily Telegraph published a letter by Niget Freitas headed
"Safe drug use just a myth".

Although drugs are not safe, in and of themselves, it is how people use
drugs that determines their safety or harmfulness.

Frettas said: "The simple fact is drugs kill people. They destroy the lives
of addicts and those around them."

I disagree. Drugs are inanimate chemicals. Drugs are only harmful when
misused, the same as guns.

Freitas should examine his own conscience and find out how many lives have
been lost because people have been persuaded by his ridiculous claims. The
most harmful drugs, such as tobacco and alcohol, should be subject to the
drug laws like other drugs.
