POLICE NEED A BASIC BIOLOGY LESSON

So, Jeff Bray was riding his bicycle March 1 around 10:30 p.m. and was
across the street from his home when he was stopped by Paso Robles police
officer Dave Torres ["Medical Marijuana Advocates Win One," New Times,
March 30]

Torres wrote in his subsequent report "While 1 was talking to Bray, 1
noticed his eyes were extremely dilated I asked Bray if he was taking any
medications that would make his eyes dilate "

Jeff Bray told the truth about his medical marijuana prescription The
events which followed landed Bray in jail. Deprived of his medication while
spending 37 hours in San Luis Obispo County Jail, Bray suffered a grand mal
seizure and a resulting gash on his head

Now I'm no doctor, but the last time I looked my eyes were extremely
dilated at 10:30 p.m., too. I think it is the way eyes are supposed to work
at night.

Perhaps if Officer Torres had this common sense the whole matter could have
been avoided Maybe if other officers had this common sense they would not
be so quick to shine blinding flashlights right into your eyes during their
traffic stops at night
