MP TO MISS DRUG DEBATE CITY MP Helen Brinton has refused to attend to a public meeting to debate whether cannabis should be legalised. The Legalise Cannabis Alliance invited the Labour MP to attend tomorrow night's debate on the controversial issue of legalising the drug. Mrs Brinton said she "would never pay lip service" to people who promoted the drug's use, and had no plans to attend the meeting at Norman Road Community Centre, in Eastfield, Peterborough, from 7pm. She said: "My views on cannabis have been expressed in The Evening Telegraph before. I am categorically against any moves to legalise the drug and in no way wish to debate the subject at a public meeting like this one." The Legalise Cannabis Alliance candidate, Marcus Davies, who is standing in the East ward in the forthcoming city council elections. will be speaking about the drug. and his belief that it should be made legal. - --- MAP posted-by: Don Beck
