SEIZURE LAWS Thank you for your series on law enforcement officers circumventing the law to divert money from education to their own agencies (5/21-22, A-1). When the police have so little respect for the law, and when state and federal legislators have so little respect for the Constitution, and when the judiciary shows so little respect for righteousness, how can they be surprised when so many of us citizens have no respect for authority? My solution is for every board of education whose pupils have been robbed by the police to bring a civil suit for embezzlement, personally naming every officer involved as a defendant. That these officers were just following orders is not a defense, it is a confession. Joel S. Heller, Kansas City - --- MAP posted-by: Don Beck
