Sixteen addicts have died recently in Glasgow, and the number of cases in England and Ireland are rising. The breakthrough has been made in the Midlands, where two men have been arrested on suspicion of murdering Derek Anderson, 46, from Wolverhampton. Strathclyde Police and Glasgow Health Board are to study details of the case today. A police insider revealed: "The deaths in Wolverhampton are identical to the deaths in Glasgow, where the symptoms were swelling around the site of injection followed by abscesses. "The patient then goes into toxic shock and dies. "This is an excellent result by Wolverhampton police, now we can perhaps get to the bottom of what is killing the addicts and put a stop to it." Superintendent John Colston is heading the Wolverhampton inquiry. He said: "There is a strong suggestion Mr Anderson's death and two others in the town may be related to the deaths in Glasgow." - --- MAP posted-by: Richard Lake
