Picana BAGUIO POLICE EYE TENEMENTS FOR DRUG DEALS BAGUIO CITY—Police authorities here have requested boardinghouse owners to inform them of boarders involved in drug trafficking, following reports that Muslim students renting apartments and rooms along the university belt of Magsaysay Avenue, Bonifacio and Gen. Luna engaged in drug trafficking. Benguet provincial director Senior Supt. Eliseo de la Paz said some Muslims were "probable couriers of drugs" since they do not stay long in one area but "just come and go." But a Muslim leader here denied the allegations of De la Paz. "He should not pinpoint all the Muslims here. And they should investigate their accusations and validate their facts," said Sultan Mohammed Amin Bob Torres, adding such accusations hurt the Muslim community. Meanwhile, PNP Narcotics and other law enforcers were deployed at different malls, supermarkets, and campuses throughout the region to monitor not only drugs but also bomb threats. Police said pushers were targeting high school and young college students, and using supermarkets as transshipment points. - --- MAP posted-by: Richard Lake
