FOREST ARGUMENT ONLY FOR FLUNKEYS

NO, Col Dorber, (Illawarra Mercury, June 1) the tired old "lock up the
forest" complaint won't work anymore.

Flunkeys for foreign companies would not know what national pride is, but
what all sensible and informed Australians should object to is our national
forests being clearfelled, simply to provide for the rest of the planet.

The executive director of the NSW Forest Products Association appears to
have woodchip propaganda on the brain.

It is high value-added hardwood timber flooring which is being wiped out by
wood chipping, taking thousands of rural jobs with it, all for the sake of
foreign waste.

The solution?

Wipe Col Dorber and the Forest Products Association, preferably using paper
made sustainably from hemp, giving employment to our beleaguered farmers.

James Hill, Gwynneville.
