Robinson TURN OFF THE FLOW OF DRUGS Only the very foolhardy, ignorant or both would support legalisation of harmful substances such as cannabis, heroin and cocaine. These substances destroy minds, immune systems, mental abilities, individuals and families. Brian Watters' letter (Daily Telegraph, June 26) was a pertinent reminder that no matter what logical, scientific and well-supported reasons are given not to legalise these harmful substances, there will always be those of the persuasion to legalise everything and let the consequences be damned. Members of the legalise lobby would have us believe that legalisation solves all the problems despite vast evidence to the contrary, but their own brain-strained arguments are their critics' greatest ammunition. The facts remain: do drugs and die. If the drugs were legalised, your body simply remains alive a little longer while the addiction takes possession of you and uses you as the host, robbing you of your identity and of your life. As a nation we must demand that Customs shut off supply. Then we can help sick addicts regain their health and their lives. Michael D. Robinson, Hurlstone Park - --- MAP posted-by: Jo-D
