MOTIVES OF COMPASSION CLUB ARE NOT IMPORTANT

I have news for Police Inspector Dan Maluta of the Nelson City Police. A
recent poll done for the National Post shows that 2 out of 3 Canadians want
marijuana dealt with in a non criminal manner. It does not matter what the
motives of the compassion club are. He should be thinking about helping the
government establish a legal distribution system as with alcohol

If the public wants legal pot that's the way it must be. We live in a
democracy. I am sure he would agree that one third of the population cannot
impose criminal records on the other two thirds forever. That is the
beginning of fascism. That is unacceptable in our society. He needs to help
with a way to a democratic solution. A tall order for those who have become
used to police action involving a harmless plant. He should also be aware
that in a time of transition the public will have little mercy for those
who say "I was just doing my job"
