I know we're all sick of hearing about Keanon Ferguson, but come on. The issue is still making front page news in our paper. Let's take a good look at this situation: Ferguson not only had a party at his house freshman year where somebody almost died of alcohol poisoning, but was later caught with drugs on campus. And then his father defends him, gets him reinstated as president. What does that say? It's OK now to get caught with drugs on campus, because the school board can only suspend you for five days. No. That's not right. The school board holds the right to punish as they seem fit. This reminds me of a situation where another president was caught having a scandal, but then survived and stayed in office, then got elected for another term. In my opinion, Keanon Ferguson is just another Bill Clinton in the making. And what kind of message is this sending to younger kids already using drugs? Oh, he got away with it, so why can't I? It's just wrong, and it worries me that even with the knowledge that Keanon is using drugs, there was still a high enough majority of students at the high school to vote him back in. Come on, grow up. - -- Mike Kerlinger, Medford - --- MAP posted-by: Jay Bergstrom
