THE GOOD NEIGHBORS

Way out west in Bend, Oregon, a couple pushing for the legalization of 
cannabis tried an innovative approach to reach their community, according 
to the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws.

The tactic?  They placed an ad in local papers with the heading, "We're 
Jeff and Tracy.  We're your good neighbors.  We smoke pot."

The Willamette Week, a fellow member of Illinois Times in the Association 
of Alternative Newsweeklies, printed the ad.  Alas, a nearby mainstream, 
daily newspaper, the Oregonian, declined, saying it was "unsuitable for 
publication."
