Police arrested Benjamin Dewan Hadley of 2680 KY 92 in Columbia on Tuesday. Hadley has been in the Adair County Jail since his arrest. According to a spokesperson at the Columbia State Police Post, Hadley retired from the state police in the early 1990s. The Kentucky State Police Drug Enforcement Section of the Kentucky State Police Special Operations Section, along with officers from the Columbia post, executed a search warrant on Hadley's KY 92 property on Tuesday. According to a press release from the state police, when the warrant was executed officers found both methamphetamine and marijuana. Materials used to manufacture methamphetamine and for growing marijuana were seized, along with an undetermined amount of processed marijuana and methamphetamine. Also, 971 marijuana plants were destroyed. Several vehicles, farming equipment and firearms were seized, according to the release. Hadley was charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, growing marijuana, first-degree selling methamphetamine and selling marijuana more than eight ounces but less than five pounds.
