DENIAL OF FEDERAL STUDENT LOANS

To the Editor,

An un-mentioned fact in Sunday's story on the denial of federal student
loans for applicants convicted of drug charges; While those students
convicted of say, marijuana possession, are ineligible, applicants
convicted of rape, assault, robbery, even murder, ARE eligible for federal
loans. Yes. This law was actually written and passed by our elected
officials who are desperately trying to sustain a clearly failed drug
policy, not, as it seems, by Lewis Carroll's Queen of Hearts.
