Hebert END WAR ON DRUGS, TRAGEDY IN COLOMBIA I was horrified to read Tom Mooney's Aug. 7 news story, "Fumigation in Colombia harms people and food crops." I demand an explanation from Congress. I certainly did not want it to approve a plan that involves spraying young children with untested herbicides. The war on drugs has gotten out of hand. For 30 years, we have been told that victory is just around the corner. In reality, we have cheaper, purer and more readily available drugs. We need to eliminate the black market from the drug trade. This can only be done by regulating the sale of drugs as we do with tobacco and alcohol. We need to tell our elected officials we are tired of their excuses and failed promises. End the war on drugs, immediately. KEVIN M. HEBERT Chicopee, Mass. - --- MAP posted-by: Terry Liittschwager
