GUTLESS LAW MAKERS

Re "Revisiting Drug Sentences," editorial, Aug. 29: Bravo! Finally a
newspaper with the guts (and it's about time) to say what everyone knows:
Politicians who write bad (unenforceable or "where the cure is worse than
the crime") laws commit a great social wrong. They are indeed "too gutless"
to change such a law, even when it can be clearly demonstrated that it
frustrates and makes a laughingstock of justice. Gutless politicians allow
the system to become corrupted--the inevitable consequence of bad laws. We
live in shameful times.
