HEMP, HEMP, HOORAY!

Dear Editor:

I was delighted to see in print Judy Szabo's article regarding hemp
(Fashion Files, Aug. 30).

All of the facts listed are completely true, and yet we rarely see this
type of thing in print, largely because competing industries such as the
petrochemical, nuclear fuel, cotton, artificial textile, lumber, plastic
and pharmaceutical industries.

Lately I have begun wearing hemp clothing, which I find to be the most
agreeable fabric I can remember having worn. I would highly suggest the
reader buy an article of hemp clothing and wear it. It is resilient, warm,
soft and absorbent.

Best of all, once it becomes legal, it is the most ideal source of
environmentally-friendly and decentralized energy.

The future of Earth may be as bright as the emerald colour of this amazing
plant, provided that nations such as the United States begin exercising
some common sense for a change.
