KREIGER POT CASE TO BEGIN

An unusual court hearing tomorrow is expected to end with city police
giving marijuana crusader Grant Kreiger 85 grams of his pot back without
the department trafficking the dope.

Kreiger said his lawyer, Adriano Iovinelli, will appear before a provincial
court judge and make application for a Section 24 so a judge can legally
give police permission to return Kreiger's pot without them trafficking it
to him.

"This is definitely a very grey area," said Kreiger, who has had numerous
run-ins with the law over his use of pot.

Kreiger, 46, suffers from multiple sclerosis and has the right to possess
and smoke marijuana to ease his symptoms.

His medicine was taken away at the Calgary Remand Centre two weeks ago, as
Kreiger went to jail Jan. 22 to cover fines from previous probation
breaches, and packed 85 grams of marijuana with him.

The hearing will be held 9 a.m. at the provincial court house, room 411.
