SUPPLY HEROIN ON PRESCRIPTION

Page one: "Heroin, more plentiful, cheaper, purer than ever"; page
eight: "State DPP calls for heroin on prescription" (Herald, March
7). Since it is obvious that anyone with the slightest inclination to
obtain the drug can easily do so, could Mr Carr, or anyone in his
Government, explain to me why it should not be available on
prescription?

Until they do so I will continue to believe that government policy,
which is leading to many avoidable deaths, is mere political
convenience.

Has morality in public life sunk to such a low ebb that this is acceptable?

Laurie McGinness, North Curl Curl, March 7.
