READER AGREES WITH COLUMN ON THE DRUG WAR

Mimi Merrill's view of the drug war is virtually synchronous with my own, 
and I thank you for publishing it. It is a pity that our politicians so 
badly need to be victorious in war. It's gotten so bad that in times of 
peace, they are willing to wage war against citizens of their own country.

We are now the most incarcerated industrialized nation in the world, thanks 
to political imprisonment of drug offenders.
