Sponsored by the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, the satellite downlink program will provide information on a variety of aspects related to methamphetamine. Physical effects on the body, prevention and treatment issues, the epidemiology of the drug, effects on the individual, family and community, child endangerment issues and environmental hazards will be discussed. An expert panel will discuss the myths and facts of methamphetamine use and how a community coalition mobilized against meth use. Other features include an interview with the daughter of meth users who will talk about living in a meth house; a child protection advocate who has seen the effects of parents' methamphetamine use on children, and an "ordinary citizen" who was fed up with her methamphetamine-producing neighbors. The program is targeted toward parents, educators, prevention and treatment specialists, law enforcement officials, community leaders, community coalitions and the faith community. - --- MAP posted-by: Jo-D
