MARIJUANA FOES SEEK SELF-AGGRANDIZEMENT

In Judy Kreamer's May 26 letter, "Campos overlooks marijuana's dangers,"
she describes all manner of mayhem that has been erroneously attributed
to marijuana, while completely ignoring the benefits of this rather
innocuous plant.

Why?

Kreamer's organization, Educating Voices Inc., is just one of hundreds
of far-right religious organizations, that have sprung up as a cottage
industry, to help lighten the pocketbooks of American taxpayers. They
pass themselves off as drug policy professionals, while concocting their
own science, which is, more often than not, in complete opposition to
known fact.

Americans should realize that they finance much of the propaganda spewed
by these radical religious elements of our society, who moralize and
propagandize, not to protect the children as they would have you think,
but to protect their own little piece of the drug war pork pie.

But that's just the tip of the iceberg.

>From the providers of military hardware to the drug war cliques within
our police departments and government agencies, these career bureaucrats
are all cashing in on this disaster of U.S. policy and most of our
country's news organizations seem to ignore it.

It's all about money, power and careers. The war on drugs is corruption
personified and each and every one of us, in one way or another, is its
victim.
