President Al Blannin accepted three awards at a convention in Vancouver May 3-4. The BC Crime Stoppers Advisory Board handed Blannin the Milestone Award for 2001. "Due to Brenda Leslie putting in the statistics dutifully over the years, we got it," Blannin said. Nearly $1 million-worth of drugs were seized in the South Cariboo last year as a result of Crime Stoppers. Blannin and Liason Officer Const. Brenda Leslie gave two awards at the May 28 council meeting. The Free Press and Wildcountry Radio received media partner awards for 2001, for communities with a population under 20,000. "Having both of these media partners win out of the entire province says a lot about the community we live in," wrote Blannin, in a letter to council. - --- MAP posted-by: Jay Bergstrom
