MEDICAL WORKERS WILL LEARN SAFETY IN MODEL DRUG LAB

COLUMBIA - A model methamphetamine lab will make a stop in Maury County
from 6-8 p.m. today so area emergency medical workers can learn safety
precautions in dealing with an emergency situation in such a lab.

The program is part of EMS Night Out South, a free, bimonthly educational
program for emergency personnel in the region sponsored by Vanderbilt
University Medical Center and Maury Regional Hospital Emergency Medical
Services.

Members of the Tennessee National Guard Training Division will offer
details of the meth lab and how to handle an emergency situation.

Also, personnel from Vanderbilt LifeFlight, Huntsville Medflight, TIKI Mast
and Air Evac will be on hand to demonstrate their aircraft and explain
their capabilities.

This program celebrates the second anniversary of EMS Night Out South,
which is aimed at emergency medical technicians, critical care nurses,
paramedics and occupational medicine personnel.

Registration for the program is not necessary. It will be held at the Maury
Regional EMS building on Tradewinds Drive. Each participant will be awarded
0.2 continuing education units.
