LEGALIZE USE OF CANNABIS TO WIPE OUT SNIFFING

I agree that the proposed law meant to hold merchants responsible for
preventing inhalant abuse is unworkable and unconstitutional (Sniff law
dangerous, June 27). At best, the shoppers most likely to be profiled will
pay more to less-scrupulous vendors. Some might turn to carport theft and
siphons.

As comedian Dennis Miller once observed, "The government could take away
all the drugs in the world and people would spin around on their lawns
until they fell down and saw God."

Far more would be accomplished in terms of reducing the harm caused by
inhalants, alcohol, drugs and creeping state maternalism by cannabis
legalization.
