BETTER GRASS

Re: "Weeding out criminals," Editorial, July 17.

Fining pot users instead of jailing them.

Big hairy deal.

Our drug laws fly in the face of everything the Charter of Rights and
Freedoms stands for. They are also illogical; why don't we ban alcohol and
tobacco?

The laws harm users more than if the drugs were legal because they are
persecuted by the state and unable to access drugs of known purity and potency.

Our drug laws nurture organized crime and encourage the spread of AIDS and
hepatitis. They also cost a fortune to enforce.

Abolish them.
