Horrocks THE WORLD WOULD BE A BETTER PLACE Imagine the symbol of our flag around the world today if the framers and signers of the Declaration of Independence added the word "women" after the words "all men." If Thomas Jefferson and the American people embraced the principles that all men and women are created equal, endowed with certain unalienable rights, life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. If George Washington and Thomas Jefferson, at the end of their inauguration speeches, freed their slaves. If Andrew Jackson negotiated a fair settlement with the American Indian, instead of committing acts of genocide and stealing their land. If Abraham Lincoln said "I de-nounce all forms of slavery and segregation." If every individual, politician and child in America had recited the original Pledge of Allegiance every day since 1892 and bellowed when they came to the words, "with liberty and justice for all." If George Dubya, in his speech at Normandy, apologized to the heroes who died there and the generation he now calls on to fight, for his failure to fight during the Vietnam conflict. If our flag and military had always been at the side of the world's impoverished and oppressed, instead of at the side of corrupt government, which is heavily involved in the two largest drug cartels in the world.
