SMOKE, MIRRORS IN POT DEBATE

Re Where there's smoke, there's disagreement, National Report, Aug. 3.

University of Toronto professor Harold Kalant's assertion that marijuana is
physically addicting isn't supported by the American Institute of Medicine,
The British Journal of Medicine and other medical studies. And the higher
incidence of cancer hasn't been noted by other medical studies that follow
the lives of users.

This sounds like someone with his own viewpoint. As the headline suggested,
there's very little agreement as to the medical facts about marijuana use.
Experts in this field seem to present whatever "facts" help grind their
particular axe.
