AS TOP PROSECUTOR BOARDED PLANE, SON ARRESTED ON MARIJUANA CHARGE

MIAMI - The 18-year-old son of Miami-Dade County's top prosecutor was
arrested Thursday on charges of carrying marijuana when he tried to board a
flight to Puerto Rico with his mother and aunt.

Justin Robert Rundle, the son of Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine
Fernandez Rundle, was charged with one count of misdemeanor possession of
marijuana.

A ceramic pipe and 3 grams of suspected marijuana were found in Rundle's
pocket after he was searched with a security wand at Miami International
Airport before boarding the American Airlines flight, Miami-Dade police said.

Police spokesman Robert Williams said the state attorney was boarding the
plane when the drugs were found on her son. Justin Rundle was allowed to
board the flight, but an airline official forced him to leave and return to
the departure gate.

``Why they did what they did, I don't know ... since it wasn't a weapon,
they let him proceed onto the aircraft,'' said Ed Munn, a police spokesman.

Munn said the pipe was contained in a felt pouch. He said the metal screen
inside the pipe set off the alarm. The marijuana was in a small case.
