SHUTTING DOWN TERRORISTS' BANK ACCOUNTS

Q - America has been shutting down terrorists' bank accounts.  If Osama
bin Laden is still alive, where is he getting his money? - V.H.,
Bridgehampton, N.Y.

A - Osama's operatives often are the middlemen and dealers for South
Asia's heroin industry, which earns a fortune for their al-Qaeda
terrorist organization.  The U.S. has the technology to destroy most
of the poppy fields that produce the heroin, but the State Department
has vetoed that initiative, infurating some anti-terrorism experts.
Its excuse:  We don't want to hurt the economies of our allies in the
region - Pakistan and Afghanistan.
