Shouldn't we as parents and educators be teaching our young people that you cannot find personal happiness and respect for yourself in a bottle of liquor or mind-altering drugs and narcotics? Ask any parent who has lost a son or daughter as a result of drunk driving. Do we need another substance to add to this problem? The Senate has recommended that marijuana be made legal for anyone 16 years of age to purchase. A person must be 19 years old to purchase cigarettes or drink in a bar. The next step will be to lower the drinking and cigarette smoking to the 16-year age limit. Our young people are the future of this country. I hope they all won't be wandering around in a drug-induced haze and raising a family 20 years from now. Ken Fields Sr. Kitchener - --- MAP posted-by: Jay Bergstrom
