ENFORCED MORALS

I'LL MAKE it as plain as day for the William Sprouls of the world who
support drug prohibition (Letters, Sept. 10): Have a look in the history
books. Take special interest in the Christian Crusades, the Spanish
Inquisition and the history of Nazi Germany. What they have in common is
that they were all strong believers in using the coercive force of the
state to enforce their morals on others. The drug war is but mankind's
latest in a long list of vast dramas of scapegoat persecutions. The history
books will portray those who supported it as the criminals.
